Headlight Housing Repair & Replacement

The housing is the structural body of the headlight assembly — it holds the reflector, bulb or LED module, and wiring in place, and provides the mounting points that attach the whole unit to the vehicle's chassis. Unlike the outer polycarbonate lens, the housing is typically not transparent and rarely made from the same material, which means housing damage and lens damage require different repair approaches.

1. Signs Your Housing Needs Repair

Cracks in the housing body, water ingress at the housing level, heat damage near the bulb socket, and failed seals between the housing and lens are all signs to look out for.

2. Repair or Replace? How We Decide

Smaller cracks and seal failures can often be repaired directly, preserving the original reflector and wiring. More extensive structural damage may call for full housing replacement while reusing the existing lens, reflector, and electronics if they remain in good condition.

3. Our Housing Repair Process

We carry out a structural inspection, decide between repair or replacement, transfer working components into a new housing where necessary, reseal the lens-to-housing joint, and check fit and function.

4. Housing Repair for Workshops & Insurance Claims

By repairing or selectively replacing the housing rather than the full headlight assembly, workshops and insurers can resolve claims at a lower parts cost while still fully restoring headlight function.

FAQ

How is housing damage different from lens damage?
The lens is the clear polycarbonate cover; the housing is the structural body behind it that holds the internal components and mounting points. Cracks or water ingress originating from the housing itself require a different repair approach than surface damage to the lens.
Do I need a whole new headlight if the housing is cracked?
Not necessarily. Many housing cracks and seal failures can be repaired directly. Where the housing is damaged beyond repair, we transfer the still-functional reflector and electronics into a replacement housing rather than sourcing an entirely new assembly.
Can housing repair fix water getting into my headlight?
Yes, provided the water ingress originates from the housing or its seal rather than a cracked lens. We identify the entry point during inspection and restore the seal accordingly.
